Chapter 5
The Aftermath
âWeâll want to take a statement but obviously, this is not the right time. Can you bring her in tomorrow for questioning?â
âYes, officer. Thank you.â
âYou take care of her.â
Bonnie smiles a wan smile. âI always do. Jenn, I think itâs too overwhelming for you to be here, too. Why donât you take my car and go back to your hotel?â
Jennifer nods and takes Bonnieâs outstretched keys. âWell, get some wood and patch this window up for you. You just take care of your friend.â The female officer was even more gentle than before. The male officer was about to protest but she shushed him. âWeâll be back in an hour.â
And moments later it was just Bonnie and Carmen. Carmen was still in the shower when Bonnie walked in and picked up her clothes. She put them in Carmenâs bedroom and pulled a fresh towel out of the linen closet. Bonnie brings the towel into the bathroom where Carmen is scrubbing her skin raw.
âCarmen, baby, what are you doing?â
âI just want her off me. I canât get her off me.â Bonnie opens up the curtains and takes the soap out of Carmenâs hand. She gently washes Carmen from head to toe like a mother would her baby. Carmen cries the whole time.
âBaby, Iâm here. These are good touches, okay? Letâs get out of the shower now and Iâll put you to bed.â Carmen stays under the water letting the water cascade down her chest. Bonnie shuts off the water and embraces Carmen with the towel. She rubs her softly and lovingly. âYouâre a good girl, Carmen. You are loved. Iâm going to love you. I do love you. Raise your arms. Okay.â
When Bonnie rubs under Carmenâs arms, it tickles and she laughs.
âI didnât know you were ticklish.â
âMe neither.â And Carmen bursts into tears again.
âBaby, let me put some lotion on you.â
âYeah the last thing I need right now is dry skin.â Carmen laughs a hard laugh. Bonnie chuckles, too. She pumps rose scented lotion into her hand and gently rubs the white cream into Carmenâs skin. First the legs then the butt. She pumps more lotion and rubs it down Carmenâs back, taking careful attention to her arms. And then she takes whatâs left and eases it over Carmenâs beautiful breasts.
âKiss me, Bonnie.â
âOh Carmen, I donât think thatâs a good idea.â
âPlease.â Bonnie leans up and lightly touches her lips to Carmenâs. Carmenâs pull is hungrier, but Bonnie holds back.
âCome on, Carmen. Letâs get you into bed.â
âMy hair.â Bonnie gently presses Carmen on the edge of the tub and fumbles for her hair brush. She finds it and begins brushing out Carmenâs hair. Itâs knotted so Bonnie goes slow, but after a little while, she gets the brush through Carmenâs long, beautiful locks. Itâs just another intimate moment that neither have ever experienced before.
Bonnie draws Carmen up and brings her into the bedroom. Sheâs never been in the bedroom and other than some dead flowers, itâs very non-descript, as if Carmen never really moved in.
